The “Body Syndromes” theory is a theory that states that your mental thoughts may cause your body to experience physical pain or disease. This would mean that the presence of physical pain or illness is simply the result or product of a much deeply rooted, psychological cause. These thoughts could be spurned by several things, such as negative emotions, traumatic experiences, fear, anger, resentment, hatred, criticism, and/ or guilt. These emotions will have their manifestation in the presence of pains and diseases throughout the body and some examples of these would be backaches, headaches, arthritis, and even cancer, among others. Once the root cause is identified and removed, more often than not, the physical pain or disease also ebbs away.
We as human beings have unfortunately learned throughout the years to harbor negative emotions instead of expressing them and letting them out – we will hold on to fear and anger, rather than help ourselves by forgiving and relieving ourselves and others and moving on with our lives. In our minds these poisonous thoughts, left unchained, may cause our bodies tremendous damage. For example, constant pain in our feet may signify the manifestation of a hidden fear of facing the future and moving forward. Likewise, upper back pain may signify a lack of emotional support available to the subject at a particular moment in time.
Hypnotherapy is a great tool that can teach us how to identify and uproot the cause of these body syndromes - because in order to relieve a body syndrome that causes physical pain or disease, one would have to deal with it from a mental and emotional stand point and thus affect the root cause. Discipline and will power will only work for so long because this would be a conscious way of dealing with the problem. Similarly, taking medicines and physical therapies would merely target the superficial causes and would give you some symptom relief only for a short period of time (not to mention the negative side effects. The only way to deal with this swiftly and efficiently is to first and foremost have the willingness to change, and once this is established, to tackle the subconscious mind through the positive power of hypnosis to finally make this change.
